How Much Does Botox for Excessive Sweating Cost?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Q: I am considering getting Botox injections in my underarms for hyperhidrosis. I have tried the prescription strength deodorants but they have made little to no difference. I do not believe my insurance covers Botox injections so I was wondering if I could get a general price range so I can decide if Botox injections are even an option for me.

A: Botox for hyperhydrosis – underarm sweating – is quite common and patients here have found it to be very effective. Generally it will take the entire vial of botox, which is made up of 100 units, so the cost to you would be between $900 and $1,000. We do not bill insurance for this procedure so it would be an out of pocket expense. We do use a financing company called Care Credit if that is something that might be helpful for you. Give us a call at 206-859-5777 to schedule a a free consultation.

Are Wrinkles Around My Mouth Treatable?

Q: Is there a successful treatment for perioral wrinkles? I’m 46 years old and the collagen between my mouth and nose has diminished and now I have these wrinkles that are especially visible when I talk and chew.

A: A great treatment option for perioral wrinkles is the CO2 laser.  We offer free cosmetic consultations to discuss the best course of treatment for you.  Give our office a call at your convenience 206-859-5777.

Can Injections Help Bags Under My Eyes?

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Q: I am a very healthy and active 46-year-old man. Unfortunately, I have developed “bags” under my eyes, which make me look tired. I have read about favorable results with injections that improve the “bags” for up to a year. Is it possible to schedule a no obligation consultation? Also, how much does the procedure cost per eye? Thank you.

A: We have treated many patients with similar concerns with favorable results. Fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane are lower-cost options and great choice. The total cost ranges from $575 to $1,000 based on the amount of filler needed to achieve your desired results. Sometimes the doctors may suggest a surgical or laser procedure. Our cosmetic consultations with a physician are free; simply call our office at 206-859-5777 for an appointment.  We look forward to meeting you.

Dr. Reichel is back in full swing. As the director and owner of the clinic, Dr. Reichel specializes in skin cancer surgery and cosmetic procedures. She has been asked to give a lecture on blepharoplasty (eye rejuvenation) at the Washington State Dermatology Association meeting in July. She will also head a lecture on “running a cosmetic practice” at the next American Society for Dermatologic Surgery meeting in the fall. Congratulations Dr. Reichel on your national activity in cosmetic dermatology. At home, Dr. Reichel and her husband are happily caring for their two new twin girls, Anya and Jaya and her 2½-year-old son, Sai.

Saying Goodbye and Welcome

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Our very gifted friend and clinic RN, Rachelle, is leaving Pacific Dermatology. She, her husband and daughter are returning to their roots in Portland. We are all sorry to see her go and she will be missed.

We are happy to be able to say that Elle, who was on staff at the clinic in 2008, will be rejoining us as our newest RN. Elle will be our “cosmetic RN”. So in addition to caring for patients and assisting the doctors on procedures, she will help you with cosmetic questions and scheduling. Welcome Elle.

BOTOX Bank-a-Vial — Save $300 on Botox

Friday, June 11th, 2010

If you like the way Botox makes you look and feel, you’ll love the return of this popular V.I.P. promotion.

Here’s how it works: Purchase a vial* of Botox for only $1200. We will do your injections, and then keep your remaining Botox units in the ‘bank’. Please ask one of our staff for details, or call 206-859-5777 to make a cosmetic consultation appointment.

Remember, here at Pacific Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, all Botox and other injectables, such as Restylane and Radiesse, are injected by Dr. Reichel, Dr. Jacobson, or Kelly, our physician’s assistant.

*One vial contains 100 units of Botox. On average, we use 20 to 25 units per area (frown line, crows feet, forehead lines). Each “Botox Bank a Vial” purchase is good for 18 months. Most patients receive Botox injections every four to six months.

Can You Fix Old Piercing Holes?

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Q: I’m interested in correcting a piercing hole I have from a previous belly button ring. It’s a completely healed hole similar to ones in women’s ears. I just want the hole closed up so it’s not as visible. I realize this is probably considered a “cosmetic” procedure so I was hoping to get an estimate on price.

A: Yes we could do the procedure here. It would be an office surgery that would probably take about 45 minutes total time for you. We would remove the “tube” of skin around the piercing, and suture both sides. These would stay in for 10 to 14 days. You would have a little scar, but the hole would be gone. You’re correct in surmising this would be cosmetic, a treatment insurance would not pay for. The cost for this procedure is between $400 and $600.

Is There Help for Acne Scarring?

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Q: I have some acne scarring on my face and legs and was wondering if I would be a good candidate for CO2 laser. I was also wondering about what the costs of such a procedure would typically cost, and if multiple sessions were required in order to see results.

A: We use both Fraxel and Fractional CO2 (the Lumines Total FX) for acne scarring of the face and have seen very good results. Which laser we choose depends on your condition and skin type. At your consultation, we will also talk about whether you still have ongoing acne – as we would want to treat that first. The cost of lasers for acne scarring is about $3000 to $4000. For the CO2, some patients do need a second treatment. This would be at a reduced charge, and is not done until about six months after the first treatment.

For legs, the CO2 is probably too strong, but we could evaluate your legs to see if you are a candidate for the Fraxel. There are some other options for scarring on the legs. Please call 206-859-5777 to make a cosmetic consultation appointment. There is no charge for cosmetic consultations.

June 24th — Ladies Night Out With Thermage 4:30 to 6:30 pm

Friday, June 11th, 2010

As you age, the collagen in your skin breaks down resulting in wrinkles and sagging skin. Thermage uses radio frequency energy to safely heat the deeper layers of your skin, stimulating existing collagen and promoting new collagen growth for younger looking skin. It is a non-invasive treatment with minimal downtime and excellent results.

Our clinical staff will be joined by a Thermage representative to show you an actual Thermage treatment. This demonstration will start at 5:00 pm. If you are as impressed as we are with Thermage and book a future treatment at the event, we will give you a 25% discount off the normal cost.

 But wait, there’s more!

If you call us at 206-859-5777 to let us know you are coming, we will enter you in a drawing for a restaurant gift certificate for your own Ladies Night Out or a free Thermage treatment.
