How Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Can Restore Your Skin

CO2 Resurfacing Laser Renton, WA Most of the men and women who visit us put significant effort into maintaining the beauty of their skin. We see this effort in the form of daily care, sun protection, and even an interest in cosmetic interventions such as injectables. These are all beneficial steps in prolonging the appearance of youth, but there’s more. If you have begun to notice lines and wrinkles taking over from your eyes to your jaw line to your neck, if sun damage is making itself known in the form of dark spots, you have good reason to consider fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing.

Laser skin resurfacing is not new. In fact, many people have the wrong idea about this skin-renewing treatment. This is largely due to the image that has been presented by the full-ablation CO2 resurfacing of old. This technique is still used in some offices, and Dr. Reichel is also experienced in the performance of this procedure. However, the protocol that we use in our Renton and Seattle offices involves fractional laser resurfacing.

The gentler technique is no less powerful than traditional ablative laser treatment. Most patients can significantly improve the appearance of their skin with just one treatment. In some cases, a repeat treatment a few months after the initial session may be necessary to achieve the fullest extent of rejuvenation.

What Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing Can Do

Some of the improvements that have been noticed after fractional laser resurfacing include:

  • Smaller pore size. The pores on our skin do not necessarily grow larger; they collect debris. As dirt and oil accumulate in these tiny pores, their visibility increase, sometimes substantially. Because gentle laser resurfacing removes the uppermost layers of cells, debris is cleared from pores, reducing their appearance.
  • Young skin shines with radiance because the skin cells that make up the epidermis are vibrant and visible. As we age, the skin appears duller; not because the cells themselves have lost their luminosity, but because they are covered in a film of dead and damaged cells that are adhering to the surface. Laser resurfacing removes this film, along with the sun-damaged cells that have not yet been released from the skin.
  • Maximum effectiveness for skin care. Laser resurfacing creates a clean slate of your skin. This means that whatever you put on your face, neck, or chest each day will work better. The more your skincare products absorb into the cells below the surface, the better they work.
