Double Chin/Neck Liposuction
Double chin or fullness in the neck and jaw line can often be seen in people who are otherwise quite thin; that it may be a result of heredity rather than being overweight. It can also be associated with having a little bit of excess weight gain. For most people, this fat may not respond to diet and exercise. Dr. Reichel specializes in liposuction for the chin, neck and jawline.
How Is The Procedure Performed?
The fat is rapidly and easily removed through four tiny incisions using Tumescent Liposuction (or Liposculture). Dr. Reichel uses a tiny wand to infuse diluted local anesthetic into the fatty tissue. The anesthetic numbs the tissues and constricts (tightens) blood vessels, virtually eliminating blood loss. Dr. Reichel then uses small caliber cannulas to remove the unwanted fat and vacuums it out by suction aspiration. The entire procedure is performed as an outpatient under local anesthesia in our AAAHC-accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center. By using the tumescent technique, we eliminate the risks of general anesthesia, as well as reduce blood loss, swelling, and bruising.
Dr. Reichel often likes to couple liposuction of the neck/jawline with Ultherapy, a non-invasive tissue tightening device. Ultherapy uses high frequency ultrasound waves to go beneath the top layer of skin and cause tightening of the underlying tissues as well as increase collagen and cellular regeneration. The two procedures are performed on the same day. We have been really amazed at the results that we achieve with liposuction and Ultherapy together.
How Long Is Recovery?
Patients wear a dressing (head garment) for three days after the procedure, then can return to work and resume normal activities. The garment allows for the tissues to heal tightly in place. The impact on one's appearance is usually profound and patients are thrilled with the results. The incision marks virtually disappear so coworkers, friends, and family will never know what happened.
Dr. Reichel has performed hundreds of liposuction procedures on the neck and jaw and our patients are thrilled with the results.
