WHAT IS LATISSE®?

Luscious lashes don’t happen overnight, but LATISSE® can lengthen, thicken, and darken your lashes in a matter of weeks. LATISSE® is an FDA-approved treatment to grow eyelashes for people with inadequate or not enough lashes (hypotrichosis).

HOW DOES LATISSE® WORK?

It is believed that LATISSE® increases the length the growth cycle (anagen) phase of your eyelash hair cycle and the number of hairs in this growth phase.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING TREATMENT?

For the best results, incorporate LATISSE® into your nightly routine. Using the sterile applicator provided, apply the topical solution to the base of your upper eyelids. Applying LATISSE® more than once a day will not increase the growth of eyelashes. If you stop using LATISSE®, your eyelashes will return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months.

Important Tips for Using LATISSE®

  • Do not apply to the lower lid or in the eye
  • Use only the sterile applicators supplied with LATISSE®
  • Blot excess solution with a tissue to avoid hair growth in unintended areas
  • Remove contact lenses prior to applying LATISSE®. Wait 15 minutes before inserting lenses again
  • Remember, if you stop using LATISSE®, lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance

As the treatment progresses, you'll first begin to see changes in the length of your eyelashes. Gradually, you'll notice more thickness and darkness. By week 16, you'll see the full effect of LATISSE®. After that, you can talk to Dr. Reichel about ongoing use.

The best part of LATISSE® treatment is photo-documenting your week-by-week progress. Patients are amazed by their new lashes.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?

In clinical studies, approximately four percent of LATISSE® patients experienced some side effects such as itchy eyes and eye redness. Other less common side effects include eyelid skin darkening as a result of increased melanin in the skin, although this condition is reversible with discontinuation of LATISSE®. A very rare side effect is brown darkening of the colored part of the eye which is likely permanent.
