How Long Does Hand Rejuvenation Last?
Thank you,

Dear P,
There are different types of hand rejuvenation, and it depends on what your needs are. If your primary concern is for pigment spots on your hands, then the options can be as simple as topical retin-a and hydroquinone (which are great for maintenance if you are doing another treatment like laser). It can also include light devices like Intense Pulse Light, or lasers like the Fraxel Dual, or a CO2 laser. Needs are based on what your particular hands look like. As far as how long the results last, the most important thing is to keep your hands out of the sun-shine. If you use maintenance topical medications and good sun protection, you may not need a touch-up treatment for many years.
If your main concern is volume loss in the hands, then this can be treated with Fat Transfer to the hands (my favorite), or with a filler like Radiesse. These do need to be repeated. For fat transfers, we will take out much more fat than is needed in one setting, and we will store it in a freezer system. We can store it for up to 2 years. We will often do 3-4 treatments in that time. The hope is to have some permanent results. I have seen this. Fat injections will, amazingly, also improve the texture and thickness of the skin.
