Happy Spring to all our Patients

Happy Spring to all our Patients

The first day of May in the Seattle area was welcomed with beautiful blue and sunny skies.  When the sun comes out we all spend more time outdoors whether it involves playing sports, gardening, walking the dog or enjoying time with family and friends.  This time outdoors also means more sun exposure.

Since May is Melanoma Awareness Month, we think it is important to remind our patients about one of the many dangers of the sun.  Studies have confirmed that sun exposure is responsible for the development of at least two thirds of all melanomas.   Some other astounding facts about melanoma:    1 –in-50 Americans has a lifetime risk of developing melanoma and melanoma is considered one of the fastest growing cancers in the United States and worldwide.

The good news is that if melanoma is detected and treated early, it is often curable.  Besides practicing safe sun habits (like wearing SPF 30 sunscreen regularly, seeking shade and wearing sun protective clothing), please remember to examine your skin often and take note of any new or changing moles.  We are always available for prompt and timely evaluations of skin lesions or for skin cancer screenings.

As one of our commitments to early skin cancer detection, the providers at Pacific Dermatology and Cosmetic Center are participating in the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery’s sponsored free skin cancer screenings.  These screenings will be offered in the afternoons on May 3rd and 19th.  Our appointments fill quickly, so please call to inquire about availability (206) 859-5777.

We are excited to see the results on our treated patients with our new Fraxel Dual laser treatment.  The Fraxel Dual effectively targets unwanted brown spots and improves skin texture and tone.  The treatment has minimal downtime with most patients seeing results within several days.  Both Dr. Jacobson and Kelly Stevens, PA-C had the treatment done recently and have loved the results (you can read more about the details in April’s News Corner).  If you have any questions about whether you could be a good candidate for this treatment, please call for a consultation.

Both Dr. Reichel and Dr. Jacobson attended the annual meeting in Las Vegas of the American College of Mohs Surgery April 28th- May 1st.  As fellowship trained Mohs surgeons they attend this annual meeting to learn more about the latest advances in the treatment and surgical removal of skin cancers.

Promotions this month:  We have our ongoing Botox Bank a Vial.  You can purchase a 100 unit vial of Botox for $1200 ($12.00 per unit).  The vial is good for 18 months.  BOGO: On May 24th, Dr. Laurie Jacobson is offering a buy one get one free offer on Restylane wrinkle filler; please call 206.859.5777 to reserve your appointment time.
