Facial Redness

Facial Redness treatment

Men and women can both be affected by facial redness, but women will readily turn to cosmetics and physicians for help. Men often do nothing until the redness becomes embarrassingly noticeable to others. Redness on the face often develops as a result of acne, rosacea, birthmarks, broken blood vessels or sun damage.

Pronounced “roh-ZAY-sha” – Rosacea is a chronic disorder primarily of the facial skin characterized by flare-ups and remissions. It typically begins any time after age 30 as a redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead. In some cases, rosacea may also occur on the neck, chest, scalp or ears. Over time, the redness tends to become ruddier and more persistent, and visible blood vessels may appear. Left untreated, bumps and pimples often develop, and in severe cases the nose may grow swollen and bumpy from excess tissue. Individuals with fair skin who tend to flush or blush easily are believed to be at greatest risk. Although primarily diagnosed in women, more severe symptoms tend to be seen in men because they often delay seeking medical help until the disorder reaches advanced stages.

At PD & CC, our trained physicians can diagnose and treat your facial redness, often with the help of prescriptions, but in many cases with the treatment from one of our lasers. The V-Beam Perfecta laser is the gold standard for treating vascular skin conditions. This includes the treatment of rosacea, port wine stains, and broken blood vessels.

Excess Sweating

Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, is a condition that often causes men to feel awkward and self-conscious, especially during social situations. Men may experience excessive sweating on their hands, feet, armpits, face and genital area or over their entire body. The skin may become white and wrinkled or red and irritated as a result of the constant moisture, and may develop an odor as well.

Treatment for hyperhidrosis depends on the severity of the condition, but may include prescription-strength antiperspirant or medication to help control sweating or stop the stimulation of the sweat glands. Botox injections in the armpits block the nerves that cause sweating and can effectively treat hyperhidrosis for up to eight months per injection. In severe cases, surgery may be required to remove the nerves that control the sweat glands, or the actual glands themselves.

Laser Hair Removal for Men

Every day more men opt to permanently rid themselves of their unwanted body hair. In fact, laser hair removal has quickly become the most requested non-surgical cosmetic procedure for men nationwide! We can treat every area of the body. Some of the most popular areas for men include:

  • Back of the neck
  • Front of the neck
  • Beard
  • Shoulders and back
  • Chest and abdomen

Facial Hair Removal

Men, if you're tired of taking the time to shave every morning so you look smooth and professional at work, let PD & CC help you achieve the groomed appearance you've always wanted. In addition to eliminating the need for further shaving, this will prevent irritation and the development of pseudo-folliculitis the name medical experts give to painful, inflamed razor bumps so commonly experienced by the male population.

The Lightsheer DUET system utilizes an 800nm diode laser to treat the skin. A dramatically increased 22mm x 35 mm spot size with integrated vacuum-assist technology enhances light absorption improving treatment comfort. No topical anesthetic is required and no treatment gel is used during high speed treatment, which in turn reduces treatment times up to 75%. The hair is completely removed. As a result there are no longer any dark hairs beneath the skin's surface, sometimes known as the five o' clock shadow. We can treat any area of the face, upper lip, chin, neck, sideburns and more. Interestingly, the darker the hair the better the results; blonde, red and gray hair do not respond well to the treatment.

Body Laser Hair Removal

Prior to laser hair removal, the only practical solution for removing hair over large areas such as the back, shoulders, upper arms, and chest was shaving. Thanks to the advanced technology with the Lightsheer DUET, these larger areas can be treated much more quickly and with little discomfort. Laser hair removal is an effective method with very low risk involved because the light beams do not break the skin. Because the back is a large area, five to eight sessions may be needed to permanently reduce the amount of unwanted growth.

At Pacific Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, trained medical professionals perform all of our services, so you can feel comfortable trusting us. Our laser technicians carefully evaluate your skin color, hair color, genetics and medical history before they put together a customized laser program for you. Because of our proprietary treatment protocols and our advanced laser technology, we are able to treat all skin colors safely and effectively. While every patient is different, we’ve noted that most men get the results they’re looking for somewhere in-between 4 to 8 treatments. A typical visit can be scheduled during your lunch break, or just before or after work, and requires no recovery time thereafter.
